For the full-time and part-time program, the Software Development Bachelor accepts students with a MBO-4 Software Developer diploma. In accordance with the regulations of the WHW, IND and other relevant bodies, international students are also welcome to apply for this program as long as their diplomas are evaluated to be of a similar level and specialization to the Dutch diploma entry requirements.

For the part-time program, the same conditions apply with the addition of having a suitable workplace. The student workplace should facilitate opportunities for students to interact and collaborate with peers, mentors, and other professionals in the field; this will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. The evaluation report can be found here:

Potential students that do not meet these requirements can do our ‘intake test’. For the part-time and full-time program students should be at least 21 years old upon their enrolment to the program. For Dutch students that want to follow the full-time curriculum an age exemption can be made if they already have their starting qualification (startkwalificatie).

Foreign students (and intake test students) are required to have an Academic IELTS level of 6.0 (or equivalent score, based on the guidelines set forth by the Code of Conduct for International Students) before enrolling.

The intake procedure consist of the following steps:

  1. A student requests information via bit-academy.nl (optional)
  2. A student has an informative call with a Bit Academy Coach. In this call the Bit Academy Coach explains the structure of the bachelor, the costs and the expectations from the student.
  3. The student officially enrolls
  4. The student has to perform the intake test (optional, only necessary if the student isn’t in possession of the correct diploma)
  5. The student provides information about his/her workplace. A coach then decides if this workplace is suitable. (optional, only required for the part-time program)
  6. The student hands in all required information for the official enrollment, including payment information.
  7. Before the first school day, students get access to NexEd and the study manual.

Exception case part-time program: if a student has not managed to find a job before the first day of the school year, the exam board can decide to give the student a 3 month grace period in which they will receive education even though they don’t have a job. During this period, the student does not need to pay the college fees. If the student doesn’t manage to find a job after 3 months, their enrollment will be terminated and no fees will be charged toward the student. If the student does find a job, the fees will be charged retroactively.
