Step 2: What makes a good podcast?

4.1. Look up ‘Today Explained’ by Vox wherever you listen to your podcasts or via their website.

Choose one episode and listen to the first 5 - 10 minutes. What different production elements can you hear? (How does the presenter introduce themselves and the topic? What sounds can you hear? How do they speak?) Put your answer above in the figma.

4.2 How do tell a good story and retain attention?

Watch one of these 2 videos on Aristotle’s three appeals.

In short…Aristotle’s three modes of persuasion (the three appeals)

  1. Ethos → Who are you?

Trust - why should your audience trust you? That you know what you’re talking about? Are you knowledgeable about the subject?

  1. Logos → What is your argument/message?

Logic and rationality - Your arguments and judgments make sense and are clear.

  1. Pathos → Who are your listeners?

Trigger their emotions - Why should they care about this topic? (Important to know your audience) Can be sadness, love, solidarity etc
